From it's birth as a Demonstration
Project in a rent-geared-to-income townhouse for four men,
Project Upstream had for its purpose, to address the lack of
appropriate support services and decent affordable housing
in the community.
After the Ontario Ministry of Health approved funding for
the operation of this new program, Project Upstream began to
establish permanent roots in the community and by 1990,
eighteen men and women, as well as couples, were being
served in a supportive living environment in two homes,
single apartments and a variety of public and private
housing.
Today, Upstream seeks to expand its Family-Focused Case
Management Services to support Youth (ages: 16-24) with
mental health issues and continues to provide holistic and
creative approaches while assisting these youth and their
families throughout the continuum of mental health services.
